This game could be used for any age group. It helps the student learn about genes of dogs, and how to breed them. ( It's like the baby game we played.) It helps you decide what the puppy is going to look like.

This can be for any age from junior high to high school.

Candy Genetics
This project helps middle school students understand that there are chances of receiving a certain trait. Purchase small bags of candies, such as M&M’s, for each group. Each group should have four students. Have each group make up a chart of the different colors of candy in the package. They will count the number of candies for each color and write this on the chart. Have them rate the candies from the least to the greatest, and then find the percentage of each color of candy in the package. Explain to them that this is how it is with human genetics. The more people there are with one particular trait in your family, the higher the percentage is that you will have that trait and pass it along as well.

On this game you decide what a mother ans fathers' baby will look like. you choose his hair color and if he has dimples or not, and so on. It is probably for a younger age group like grade school( 4th through sixth). It's pretty simple.

Dent Post #6: Genetics & DNA Games

We have been learning about Genetics and DNA.  Your assignment is to do some detective work. You will be posting these two things:

  1. Find and post a link to an online interactive game about genetics or DNA.  It can be for any age group of your choosing (you may use ages or grades in your description). List the age group you think your game would be best for on top of the link.   Make sure to play the game several times to make sure that it is appropriate and educational for your age group.
     2.  Find a link to a classroom game, lab or activity that a teacher could use in his/her classroom to teach students about genetics or DNA. List the age group you think your activity would be best for and why you picked this particular activity.

Make sure to label your post as post 6 and please double check your links to make sure they work and are not blocked. If they are blocked, you will have to pick another online game or activity. Good luck!
