1st semester final

Well, biology is one of my favorite classes so far, because we get to do a lot of cool and fun activities. For example, we got to do a bug collection, and go bug hunting during class. We also learned about genetics, and DNA! I have learned a lot during this semester in biology!

I didn't learn much during our bug hunting experience, besides the fact that bugs are not to easy to catch! They are fast, and i actually got stung! But good thing i'm not allergic to bee's, right? It was a fun activity! We started the bug collection at the beginning of the school year, and it lasted about a month and a half. It was very time consuming! If you would like to learn how to catch bugs for a bug collection, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTKNiyi3CJE and type in how to make bug collection!

Then, we learned about genetics. That, to me, wasn't that fun, but for the most part, it was okay! Believe it or not, i learned a lot during this time in class. I learned that a dwarf can have a normal sized baby, even though the mother and father is a dwarf or the other way around. A normal couple can have a dwarf too! Anything is possible!

We also learned about DNA. That was really fun, because we got to do a activity that involved candy, and we got to eat the extras we didn't use! I learned how many strands of DNA were in the human body. Lets just say, there is a lot! Some where around millions, or maybe even billions!

Finally, we learned about insects, genetics, and DNA this semester. Overall, I have learned so much in biology. It still is, and will be my favorite class this year!

Some cool facts that i learned about the brain!
-Nerve impulses to and from the brain travel as fast as 170 miles per hour.
-The brain operates on the same amount of power as 10-watt light bulb.
-The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia.
-Your brain uses 20% of the oxygen that enters your bloodstream.
-The brain is much more active at night than during the day.
-Scientists say the higher your I.Q. the more you dream.
-Neurons continue to grow throughout human life.
-The brain itself cannot feel pain.
-80% of the brain is just water!!

We could possibly use this site for next semester to maybe study, and post blogs so we can learn!
